French manufacturer



It was in Drôme, in Anneyron that the three brothers Alfred, Victor and Gabriel Lafuma created their eponymous brand in 1930.
The story starts with the metal-frame backpack: the companion of the first French explorers seeking adventures and making discoveries. 

Then it was the coming of the “seventh day”, that brought campers and Sunday ramblers onto the routes of France. The brand developed in this way during the 1930s, with the take-off of paid holidays and the growth of motoring. Our portable metal and fabric furniture rapidly became the ideal holiday companion. 

Also, at the time, the specifications required that the stool or recliner had to “fit into the boot of a Renault Dauphine”. 

So, from the historic “little folding chairs” to the Pop Ups with their compact folding, there have been many models marvellously combining comfort, style, and quality. 

Today our design teams are continuing the ongoing work of seeking functionality in furniture: practical, stacking, easy to disassemble or repair.

LAFUMA MOBILIER, which accompanied the country’s great social and sporting triumphs of the last century, is settling further into French heritage and especially that of the Drôme. The brand, which has always selected suppliers mostly located less than 150 km from the industrial base, is claiming its connection with the region and promoting the local art of living.
